I explore space as material by confronting different elements through installation. Using sculptural objects, lighting, projection mapping, and video, my installation work is firmly attached to ideas of travel, “memorialization”, inclusion and dialogue.
Story-telling and the narration of the personal “unusual” are always tied up to the concept, where there is a nice balance of fiction & reality.
Cosmic Desert was a project for a video installation at Portland State University. I used a combination of old and new sculptural elements made out of reusable materials. Light creates an illusionistic sense of space and dimension, and as my goal was to transport the viewer to an alternative world, I added projection mapping and motion to create the illusion of dematerialization of the inanimate elements of the piece, making the experience as real as possible.
